    "GREEN SLEEVES"

    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Green sleeves are made from silicone elastomer with a silicone coated 3 ply polyester cover. The material is intended for "heavy duty pressure connections in hostile engine environments" and it resists hardening, cracking, cold leaks, aging and reactions to gasoline. Ideal for use in extreme temperatures where high performance is required.

The Green Sleeves are interchangeable and intended to replace the stock intake manifold "rubber band seals". Green sleeves can be used on shovel engines from late 1978 to 1984 and iron head sportsters from 1979 and later. (other applications are possible with a modification to fill the manifold o-ring seat or use of an "o-ring" eliminator adapter.)

Rubber (neoprene) tends to become brittle and crack at temperatures above 200egrees F . Silicone Green Sleeves are rated for prolonged exposure at 350 degrees F . The silicone sleeves provide more flexibility to insure a positive seal between the head and intake manifold. The Green Sleeves can be used with a typical manifold clamp however we find that best results are achieved with a high quality aerospace grade stainless steel t-bolt band clamp.

Silicone manifold sleeves are best installed on a new engine. During engine assembly the cylinders and heads are aligned to minimize any gap or misalignment between the intake manifold and the head. Poorly aligned head ports and intakes create larger gaps. Due to the flexibility and elastic nature of the silicone green sleeves any gap will "nibble at the inside of the sleeve. When used in properly aligned assemblies testing has proven that the green sleeves maintain their integrity without allowing any intake leakage providing a long and useful service life even when reinstalled multiple times.  Green Sleeves have been reused successfully following a brief inspection to verify the absence any "through holes". Installation of the sleeves on properly aligned head ports and intake will minimize any chatter. Securely tightened good quality clamps help to stabilize and immobilize the assembly. We strongly recommend; properly aligning the intake manifold to head interface and installing aircraft quality stainless steel "t-bolt" intake clamps for best results.

CAUTION; do not use any grease, lubrication or soapy water when installing green sleeves. Install the Green Sleeves dry with high quality clamps.

Benefits & advantages derived from the use of the green sleeves

    • Installation is simple, they install in place of the stock rubber band seals.
    • Green sleeves are pliable and reduce intake manifold leaks.
    • Green Sleeves are 100% made in the USA.
    • Silicone is a superior material when compared to rubber products when used at elevated temperatures..
    • The silicone green sleeves are inexpensive
